Eco-volunteering is crucial to our model because it allows donors to see their money go to work. They can witness accountability in action. It also allows donor corporations and organizations to send top talent to a leadership development experience that engages them in a truly global experience. Volunteers bring an element that is missing in much of today's philanthropic activity: the human connection between those willing to help and those in need. This kind of personal experience, from retired baby boomers to students and families on spring break, breeds understanding and mutual benefit in powerful, low-cost ways.
